Port Macquarie Surf School
Port Macquarie Surf School (PMSS) was established in 1981 as a family business and is one of the longest running surf schools in Australia. Much more than a lifestyle business, PMSS is all about sharing the surf stoke with locals and tourists in a fun and professional environment, as well as furthering the skills of advanced surfers.

Head Coach and owner, Wayne Hudson (or ‘Huddo’ as he’s affectionately known), competed for three years on the World Qualifying Circuit (WQS) and was awarded Australian Champion two times. That means his students are learning the tricks of the trade in board skills, surf awareness and the mental game of competition from someone who knows.
​
Neopitch helped evolve PMSS into a contemporary, professional brand that appealed to tourists and locals alike. A full suite of branding and marketing collateral was developed for use across the website, social media, gift vouchers, newsletters and promotional brochures. Importantly, PMSS wanted their brand and communications to highlight their ‘learn to surf’ offering.

Neopitch then developed Huddo’s personal brand for the local market of intermediate and advanced surfers with the creation of a caricature and the tagline ‘surf with Huddo’. This was to help continue to grow the following Huddo had established as a local surf icon with the next generation of up and coming surfers.

We first contacted Hayley at Neopitch after she was recommended to us by another local business. We approached Hayley originally asking if she could help us update our brochures. We met with Hayley to discuss how we wanted to update them and from there some great ideas started snow balling and we decided to go with a whole new brand refresh which was well overdue.

Hayley had so many creative, innovative and wonderful ideas, she had great contacts to design us a new webpage, great contacts for graphic designers and took away the overwhelming feeling of OMG where do I start with this task. One thing we loved the most with working with Hayley was that she is local and knows exactly what the local market want to see from our business.
